Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

Notice anything strange about the bridge in the picture? Well, when it reaches a certain point in the water, it disappears. That's because it is really the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel off the coast of Virginia. It "connects the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area with Virginia's Eastern Shore", according to the back of this postcard. The sender reports that it is considered one of the 7 engineering wonders of the world, it cost $450,000,000 to make (without the use of tax dollars!), and that it costs $12 to cross one way for the toll.

This is really an interesting card, and we're tempted to check it out sometime when we head up that direction.
