We had such an incredibly busy weekend - one that was filled with so much fun! I started off my weekend on Friday morning with Kite Day at Little Man's school. All the pre-k students were able to have a parent or grandparent come visit for the morning, spending the time flying kites in the back field behind the school. Little Man, of course, had a Star Wars kite.
Little Man had such a great time, and it was really nice getting to spend this extra time with him. He and I were both sad to see our outing come to an end.
After lunch, I checked the kids out of school to take Angel Baby and Little Man to their yearly check-ups. That went really well, and we had some time afterward for milkshakes and kite flying at the local park before heading to the ball fields for an evening of softball.
Little Man had a great game Friday night (his second game of the season), winning 15 to 10. He was so excited to win. Coincidentally, Angel Baby lost her Friday night game (her first game of the season) 15 to 10. After the games, we brought home our friends' little girls to spend the night. It sure was fun getting five kids in the bath and to bed after such a late night at the fields.
We had to get up early Saturday morning to be back at the fields for a 9:00am game. We were fearful of rain coming to ruin our day, especially since there were so many storms on the forecast for the day. Monster Man's team started off the game down three players (two didn't show up and one broke her hand), but they held their own for a good while during the game. Later in the game, though, the scores started getting further apart. By the time that Monster Man ended up getting dizzy and coming out of the game, the team was slipping further behind. It ended up being a 24 to 10 loss, but I was still proud of the team for doing so well when we were so short on players.
We went straight from Monster Man's ball game to Angel Baby's, on another field in the park. Her game went a lot better than it did the night before, and they ended up losing only 8 to 7 in the very last few seconds of the game. It was an especially fun game, though, because it had to be stopped twice during play to find cover from some sudden short-lived rain showers. By the time her game was over, the rain was gone until later in the afternoon and we were all soaked and cold.
Little Man had a great game on Saturday, too. His team played against a team that has already been proven to be a tough team to beat. The team really did a great job, and they ended up winning 9 to 7. It is so great to see them, even at such a young age, learning how to win gracefully. There was the initial excitement of knowing they won, but I did not hear one single child bragging about the win afterward.
By the time we got home on Saturday, we were exhausted. We all decided to lay down for a much-needed nap. I slept for over three hours before finally dragging myself off the couch and starting to get a few things done around the house. By the time that bedtime came, though, I was beyond ready to go to sleep for the night. It ended up storming most of the night, though, which made for a restless night.
We went to church Sunday morning, where Georgia Boy and I taught the children's church program during service. That is always a lot of fun, getting to act out parts of the story, play games related to the lesson, and have song and dance time.
After church, we went to lunch with a couple of the families from church. Then we followed it up with a trip to the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Georgia International Horsepark. Monster Man got up on stage and played the guitar during a children's program. Angel Baby and two of her friends got their hair wrapped. I got into the cash cube and won $33 in one dollar bills. All in all, it was a fun outing!
After the festival, Angel Baby, her friends, and I headed back to the church for the middle school game night. The kids had blast playing some of the games from Minute to Win It. There were even a couple of games that they managed to get us adults to try.
Despite the rain on Saturday and Sunday nights, I was sad to see the weekend come to an end. It may have been busy, but it was a lot of fun for the family!
